Contibute to 10th anniversary celebration
Published on: 8 August 2016
Can you believe it's been a decade since Take Back the Tech! was first launched? Over the years, thousands of people have come together from countries around the world to use ICT to prevent violence against women. We have all benefited from the ideas and actions of women and girls in more than 30 countries, and we continue to be inspired by the activism and outcomes we see.
We are working on several activities to celebrate the anniversary, and the first is a video. We want to highlight the energy, creativity, and diversity of Take Back the Tech! as well as its impact, and we want to showcase your TBTT efforts.
Share creative content!
Submit videos, audio clips, photographs or other high res images from previous TBTT campaigns you have worked on. Think about the content that made the most impact or means the most to you.
Film yourself!
Find an interesting location (but make sure the sound will be good enough) and pull out your mobile phone. Tell us who you are and where you're from. Display a photo or other visual about your campaign and use these guiding questions to make a video about your work on TBTT:
- How did you feel the first time you heard about TBTT?
- What did you do for the campaign? What activities did you plan or participate in? What kind of content did you create?
- How did campaigning make a difference for you, your organisation/group, your community or your movement?
- What's one stand-out moment from your involvement with TBTT? Did it involve controversy, struggle, inspiration, solidarity?
If you need tips on making the most out of your video, check out our wiki on how to work with video.
Act quickly! We need your submissions by 15 August. If you want to submit or you have questions, please write to sara.baker@apcwomen.org.
We can't wait to see what has been the most important part of TBTT for you, and we are excited to celebrate this anniversary with all of you. Let's keep taking back the tech!
