Selamat datang! I’m a nonbinary notes nerd, writer, and storyteller who works in / around collective learning, meaning, and memory in Southeast Asia. You might have seen me typing away at a meeting in the day or reading tarot cards for feminists at night. I grew up with spirituality, science, the supernatural, and the internet— and maintain over 20 years of searchable journal entries and counting. My special interests include poetry, the Qur’an, and magical combos of queerness + autism.

Mixtape no.1 - Research and Explainers

### The indigenous data movement has formalised a global alliance and contributed guiding principles on how to manage indigenous data: The CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance https://datascience.codata.org/articles/10.5334/dsj-2020-043/ Released this year, this paper taught me a lot about indigenous data sovereignty (and how it is at odds with open data). This paper sets down a baseline practice on how to respect indigenous knowledge and indigenous data, how to respectfully publish and republish, and acknowledge the prominence of indigenous data.

Track 2

Mixtape no.1 - Research and Explainers

### This website team makes videos and resources of relationship education online in Sri Lanka: https://www.bakamoono.lk Bakamoono's focus on respect, consent, and empathy has blossomed from talking about HIV to creating more discussions and resources in Tamil about healthy relationships and online safety.

Track 3

Mixtape no.1 - Research and Explainers

### An essay on The Trauma of Zoom: Body Language Across Borders and Time Zones https://blog.usejournal.com/the-trauma-of-zoom-bb3609aa41b2 A whole mood. Hanna Thomas Uose writes on polyvagal theory, remote work, body language, trauma. You might find some resonance even if you're a seasoned remote worker!

Track 4

Mixtape no.1 - Research and Explainers

### A practical privacy guide that is also a colourful comic: The Agents of Ishq Guide to Privacy http://agentsofishq.com/what-is-privacy/ This multimedia project about sex, love, and desire in India rolled out a visual guide on the elements of privacy that is charming and accessible even if you (like me) are not from India! I am a sucker for a good comic.

Track 5

Mixtape no.1 - Research and Explainers

### Have a chat with the bot on Alternate Internets, Alternate Realities, from **A Survival Guide To Being A Woman On The Internet**: https://ogbvbot.netlify.app/ Pollicy designed an experimental bot as a way of presenting the results of their wide feminist research on OGBV in Africa— I think it's such a cool idea to discover research in this way. Adapted from open source bot code at github.com/botui/botui

Track 6

Mixtape no.1 - Research and Explainers

### A three-part series on ableism from a disabled Indian writer: https://www.firstpost.com/living/to-challenge-ableism-that-manifests-in… I'm working to unlearn ableism from 'global South' perspectives and Srinidhi's writing has been illuminating for me on the subject. I've linked to the third part in the series because at the end you'll find links to the first two!

Track 7

Mixtape no.2 - In Their Own Words

### A podcast exploring queer life in Southeast Asia. Two friends talk about the LGBTQIA+ kaleidoscope past and present! https://linktr.ee/queerfromthestraits So far, Queer from the Straits has covered episodes on coming out, marriage, bullying, mental health, and drag culture. They also did a two-part episode on dating apps!

Track 8

Mixtape no.2 - In Their Own Words

### An Indonesian women's magazine with a whole section Safe Space dedicated to online safety and gender-based violence https://magdalene.co/category/safe-space Magdalene posts on Indonesian lifestyle, culture, relationships, but also has sections called Feminism A-Z and Gender and Sexuality. Here I highlight their Safe Space column. I appreciate their consistent educational content covering online predators, explainers, and guides for women in Bahasa Indonesia! (There's also an English section on the top right)

Track 9

Mixtape no.2 - In Their Own Words

### A website of personal stories, recipes, and news made by and for Malaysian queers: https://queerlapis.com I am so happy that this website exists— Queer Lapis is colourful, educational, named after one of my childhood snacks, and— most importantly— is a sanctuary of queer self-representation amidst online and offline violence.

Track 10

Mixtape no.2 - In Their Own Words

### Artist Indu Harikumar illustrates eight true stories on OGBV with hashtag #LoveSexandTech on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/lovesexandtech/ This series is poignant, with true South Asian stories anonymously told on the realities of intimacy, violence, and tech— all tenderly illustrated and come with content warnings.

Track 11

Mixtape no.2 - In Their Own Words

### The gender and tech section of Pakistan's only news site for local internet governance and digital rights issues: http://www.digitalrightsmonitor.pk/category/gender-tech/she-connects/ Digital Rights Monitor is women-run and they have a whole section just on Gender and Tech that I am sharing here for you to check out. It's intentional and well-researched work!

Track 12

Mixtape no.2 - In Their Own Words

### A community-generated mapping project that geo-locates queer moments: https://www.queeringthemap.com/ I have a fascination for maps, and this one is tender and close to my heart. People anonymously share queer moments, memories, and histories by pinning them all over a map. How many pins will you read before moving on? The first time I was here I stayed a whole hour.

Track 13

Mixtape no.3 - Making Plans

### A real-time website privacy inspector: Blacklight https://themarkup.org/blacklight Much like a real blacklight, just type a URL into this inspector and it'll tell you if the website is recording your keystrokes before you hit submit, how you interact with a page, or using cookies that track you around the web.

Track 14

Mixtape no.3 - Making Plans

### A book on data science and data ethics informed by intersectional feminism: https://data-feminism.mitpress.mit.edu/ I am EXTREMELY grateful that D'Ignazio and Klein put this book up for free on MIT Press's website. You can read it entirely from your browser! This is a must-read for a feminist lens on data, which is now globally worth more than fossil fuels. I also really appreciate the sections on auditing and values and metrics at the end.

Track 17

Mixtape no.4 - Little Wonders

### Are you in the mood for an Indonesian rock song with powerhouse female vocals and a bunch of babes declaring full authority of their bodies? https://youtu.be/-KNL7lUchtc Tubuhku Otoritasku means My Body, My Authority. I wish I could translate the lyrics for you and what the people in the video write on themselves. But the song is so good and the video's vibes are immaculate— I trust you'll enjoy it all the same!

Track 18

Mixtape no.4 - Little Wonders

### Browse movement moments in the work archive of Sonaksha, a queer South Asian artist building a body of work in illustrations and graphic recordings of regional and global movement-building: https://sonaksha.com If, as Toni Cade Bambara says, the role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible, then Sonaksha has taken that a step further— making irresistible visual notes of the revolution itself. To review their website is to encounter snapshots of 'global South' convening conversations and reports represented in vivid colours and diverse bodies. You might even recognise meetings you were in! (PS: if not, it's okay, you're at one right now. Sonaksha is illustrating TBTT2020's plenaries and is also responsible for the mixtape covers and DJ portraits right here)

Track 19

Mixtape no.4 - Little Wonders

### The adventure-ful videos of China's no.1 tech and DIY YouTuber, a lesbian in the heart of Shenzhen: https://www.youtube.com/c/SexyCyborg/ Naomi 'SexyCyborg' Wu plays with tech in super creative ways, I watch her videos and marvel at her mind as she invents all kind of cyberpunk wearables and clever devices. And she does this all while defending herself from the western gaze and constant threat of demonetisation for her hyperfeminine self-presentation (as she says on her Twitter bio, 'it's all about merit until merit has tits')

Track 20

I can't listen to music in English when I work. If you feel the same, you might like my **non-English music playlist** (new song suggestions always welcome!) https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6aBktT1YhzqwgtSsSP7Gnh?si=NNUzpxzOTdi…
