March 8 is International Women's Day, and we are celebrating women's achievements by giving proper recognition to their hard work. Many women have led the way – creating innovative tools, connecting us to digital spaces and speaking out when they are not included. When women are invisible as leaders, creators, and agents of change, their contributions to the development of technology disappear.
This #IWD we will tweet about those women who paved the way into science and technology all around the world and throughout history. Let's celebrate the techies, developers and innovators who have inspired us with their persistence, resilience and creativity. Rewrite women and girls into the tech story!
Take action on Twitter with #womenintech, #genderit, #takebackthetech and:
- Share a profile or some details about a woman from your part of the world who made contributions to technology
- Share personal stories of the woman who first inspired you to #imagineafeministinternet. (Find out more about a feminist internet.)
- Share cool resources produced in your community or others, such as this historical map of women shaping science and technology or these awesome images created by Sulá Batsú on women in science and technology.
Take Back the Tech by writing women back into history!
